What a weekend at the 2024 The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Conference.Firstly thank you to Brandon Hitch and the whole team at CICA for hosting such a fantastic event attended by over 500 people.I was absolutely humbled to represent not only BMS HEAVY CRANES & BMS A/S but also everyone at CPBJH JV in receiving the award for Lift Of The Year Over 20 Tonne for Bridge 80 of the West Gate Tunnel Project. We were also honored to take home the coveted Bill Shaw Memorial Trophy for the overall best lift - a trophy only awarded for excellence and not awarded each year.It meant a lot to accept these awards with John Foster representing CPB Contractors after planning these lifts with both John and Gerard Collins, all the way back in 2019 before prior to moving to BMS.These awards should serve as recognition to everyone who was involved in the project at any point in time and the many magnificent lifts that were executed over the past five years that each could have won this award on there own merit.Further thanks to , Robert Bird Group, Premier Cranes and Rigging & Monadelphous for their involvement in making this lift happen.Big recognition to our crew led by Luke McCarthy who executed a stellar project. And to Luke O’Neill for helping fly the BMS flag! For BMS, this was our first big civil infrastructure project in Australia and evidence of our strong engineering capabilities and professionalism to execute these types of lifts in a tier-one environment. We are proud to receive this recognition and look forward to performing many more lifts of this caliber going forward.

So many great lifts on the whole project. The early lift planning on this project is the equal to the best I’ve ever seen on any project I’ve worked on, and certainly on a greater scale than I’ve ever seen. It’s a credit to dedication and absolute professionalism of all who were involved to make these lifts happen so safely and efficiently. I doubt I’ll ever see anything like it again in my career.

It's not everyday you need an LTM 1750 to dual lift with an LG 1750.In 2022 this combination was needed for 3 separate lifts CPBJH JV's West Gate Tunnel Project. The lift you see with Y-Guy attached to LTM 1750-9.1 came in at 320t, shared between the two cranes. The Y-Guy did not increase the capacity with this short boom length but was actually utilised to shorten the minimum radius, required to achieve the lift. The LG 1750 of BMS HEAVY CRANES ran 56m of SLDB, 240t on the tray, and was rolled forward 12m between lifts, with full boom and derrick.A true display of Liebherr Group Liebherr Mobile and Crawler Cranes prowess.CRANE HUBCranes and LiftingCrane ClassVan Adrighem
