Motorcycling in Noord-Holland

Noord-Holland is perhaps the most "Dutch" province of our country. You'll find beautiful historic cities like Alkmaar, Haarlem and Amsterdam. There are bulb fields, dikes, beaches, dunes and forests. Enjoy the vastness of the polder landscape or bring a visit to Texel, the largest Wadden Island of our country. Noord-Holland is a wonderful province to discover on your motorcycle.

To do in Noord-Holland on your motorcycle

The possibilities for finding a great destination for a motorcycle ride in Noord-Holland are literally endless. Whether you love the peace and quiet of the north of the province, the most beautiful roads along the coast or the hustle and bustle of the center of Amsterdam; your motorcycle will take you to the most beautiful places in Noord-Holland as well. There are a number of places you should definitely not miss during your motoring trip through Noord-Holland. Here is our top 3

Amsterdam by motorcycle

Park your motorcycle for a "photo shoot" at the monument on Dam Square or visit the unique Italian Motor Museum at Schepenbergweg 4. This museum is open the last Saturday afternoon of the month. Do you feel like grabbing a terrace in our capital? You can park your motorcycle on the sidewalk in Amsterdam and you do not have to pay parking fees. Make sure you do not block the passage.

De Rijp by motorcycle

Between Zaandam and Alkmaar lies the village of De Rijp. As early as the 17th century, Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater called it the most beautiful village in Holland. In those days De Rijp was a prosperous port where many residents earned a lot of money as whalers. If you walk through the village and see the beautifully restored houses that are more than 400 years old, you will agree with him. The surroundings of De Rijp, with its many winding dike roads through the polder landscape, are more than worth a visit.

If you are looking for the most beautiful dune area of our country, you should definitely take a ride to Bergen. This artists' village lies just above Alkmaar on the Noord-Holland coast and when you enter the village you immediately notice.... this is no ordinary vacation resort. Shady avenues, beautiful thatched villas and a cosy center with small cafés, excellent restaurants and the best ice cream parlour in the west of the Netherlands. Make your ride complete by driving from Bergen via Schoorl to Camperduin. Where until 2015 the Honds Bossche Zeewering lay, is now a complete new beach and dune area constructed.

Events for motorcyclists in Noord-Holland

Motorcyclists should definitely not miss an event in the province of Noord-Holland.

Take your motorcycle to the track. Beginners and advanced motorcyclists can visit the Zandvoort circuit for the ultimate thrill: riding your own bike on Zandvoort's asphalt. Registration and courses through motorsportlifestyle.nl or rszmotorsport.nl

Motor routes in Noord-Holland

Noord-Holland is a great province for a motorcycle ride. Beautiful roads along the coast, endless touring through vast polders and winding dike roads. Our three favorite routes:

1. Round Texel

This route starts in the ferry port of Den Helder where you take the TESO ferry to Texel in less than half an hour. You drive north via the Wadden side of the island and after a visit to the lighthouse you drive back to the ferry harbour via the North Sea side of Texel. Along the way, you will of course stop at a terrace in one of the 7 villages on the island or at a cosy beach pavilion.

2. Noord-Holland middle route

This route starts and ends at the McDonald's carpool site along the A7 near Hoorn. The Noord-Holland middle route takes you past the IJsselmeer towns of Hoorn, Medemblik and Enkhuizen. You drive along part of the West-Frisian Omringdijk, the oldest dike in the Netherlands. You will enjoy winding your way through a beautiful polder landscape and beautiful West Frisian villages. You drive via Schagen to the coast and via the Beemster back to Hoorn.

3. Noord-Holland Dune route

This route of 172 km takes you along the most beautiful spots of the North-Holland coast. You start at the parking lot of the Zwanenwater nature reserve near Callantsoog. Via the coastal towns of Petten, Schoorl, Bergen and Egmond you ride into the Schermer polder east of Alkmaar. Your tour will take you back to the north via Heerhugowaard and Schagen. You will agree with us afterwards that the Noord-Holland coastal and dune area is perhaps the most beautiful part of our west coast.
